Overview

P routers built using the Flock Internet Routing Engine (FIRE) have been in production since 2022. They have proved to be reliable and easily programmable.

Uniform. P routers based on FIRE can be treated like “cattle not pets” as they only require a minimal configuration that is uniform across all P router devices.
Replaceable. Any FIRE based P router can be replaced by any other FIRE based P router as nearly all state is learnt via externally signalled operational state, rather than via device specific configuration.
