PE Router

PE routers built using the Flock Internet Routing Engine (FIRE) have been in production since 2022. They have proved to be reliable and highly scalable both when deployed on hardware (i.e. Lanner® 6520, Dell® XR7620) or in a virtual machine in the public cloud.

  • Scalable: PE routers built using FIRE are regularly scale tested to prove they can handle 10 million MPLS-VPN BGP paths sourced via 10,000 eBGP neighbors.
  • Programmable: PE routers built using FIRE can select various paths to other PE routers by using constraint based routing. Paths can be selected on any metric such as link bandwidth or P/PE node geographic location.
